If you discover that your insurance plan does not cover telehealth services, for mental/behavioral health services, and your insurance carrier (i.e. BCBSIL, Aetna, Health Alliance, etc) states that this lack of coverage is due to the employer opting out or simply not including this benefit, don’t panic. You may be able to reach out to your employer to see if this can be changed as they may not have known or predicted that this service wouldn’t be a covered benefit. We have created a letter that you can easily print and sign, if you choose to reach out to your employer. It may not help or guarantee any additional coverage, but don’t give up. As we like to say, “you just never know until you try”.
